Garbh Sanskar: Know More About Pregnancy

Giving birth to a child is one of the most amazing and special moments of a woman’s life. There’s nothing that can compare to seeing a new life that took spark inside of you come into the world. Although there is pain involved in the process, it only makes the payoff at the end even sweeter.

Results of the study reveal that mothers who eat more unhealthy foods during pregnancy, such as sweet drinks, refined cereals and salty foods, have children with increased behavioural problems, such as aggression and tantrums. Additionally, the findings show that children who eat more unhealthy foods in their first years of life, or who lack nutrient-rich foods such as vegetables, also show increased aggression and behavioural problems, as well as symptoms of depression and anxiety. During pregnancy, it can be hard not to give in to those cravings for unhealthy foods. But researchers have found that mothers who eat junk food while pregnant are more likely to have children with mental health problems.

"It is becoming even more clear that diet matters to mental health right across the age spectrum."

“Researchers say that air pollution during pregnancy may increase the risk of lower birth weight babies.”

Pl take care by….

  • Avoiding frequent and long-duration of commute and physical activities in rush hours, heavy traffic and other polluted areas.
  • Choosing a location of the home during pregnancy in  areas with less dense traffic, household and industry.
  • Increasing cleaner heating of homes.
  • Frequent cleaning of the home and living environment (vacuum cleaning, frequent ventilation of indoor air, location of bedroom away from rooms facing heavy traffic).
  • Minimizing indoor sources of air pollution (gas and wood heating and cooking, smoking) and ventilating the home well.

Postnatal depression was also a risk factor among mothers with low education because their children were also more likely to have depression based on increases in depression scores, according to the study.

During pregnancy, few subjects will become as important as your physical and emotional well-being. Not only will you visit your GYN with startling regularity and frequency, but — perhaps to your surprise — your growing midsection may also become the topic of polite conversation as those around you become more and more interested in how you’re doing.

Not only have physical disorders been linked with ill-nutrition before and during pregnancy, but neurological disorders and handicaps are a risk that is run by mothers who are ill-nourished, a condition which can also lead to the child becoming more susceptible to later degenerative disease(s).

It is very important that expecting mothers should change their personal habits like smoking, alcohol, caffeine and using certain medications as soon as they know they are pregnant or even when they are planning to conceive. All these can affect the development of the organs like brain, which happen in early stages of pregnancy. It is advised for pregnant women to pay special attention to food hygiene during pregnancy in addition to avoiding certain foods in order to reduce the risk of exposure to substances that may be harmful to the developing fetus.

During pregnancy, one's mass increases by about 12 kg. Most of this added weight (6 to 9 L) is water because the plasma volume increases, 85% of the placenta is water[ and the fetus itself is 70-90% water. This means that hydration should also be considered an important aspect of nutrition throughout pregnancy.

Take care of your unborn baby.
