Garbh Sanskar:Food To Eat: Part V

Eating healthily during pregnancy will help your baby to develop and grow, and will keep you fit and well. You don’t need to go on a special diet, but it's important to eat a variety of different foods every day to get the right balance of nutrients that you and your baby need.

Pregnancy is the time when what you eat will equally affect the developing fetus. Every mother wants their new born to be fit and healthy. But sometimes due to the unawareness we eat foods which can harm the developing baby. There are so many foods which are good in pregnancy and which can make a positive impact on pregnancy likewise there are some foods which can have adverse effects on the health of the mother and fetus.

Five Juices to Weight Loss

Eating healthily during pregnancy is important to meet the needs of your developing baby and for your own wellbeing. Research has shown that what a woman eats can influence the development of her baby and may also have an effect on the baby’s health later in life. It is the quality of the diet that is important, not the quantity of food eaten.

Unwashed vegetables: Toxoplasma gondii is an organism which occurs in the ground soil. Presence of this organism can lead to toxoplasmosis which is an infection and can cause brain damage or blindness in the baby. So wash them properly before the use. Vegetables are also high in vitamins and minerals which are required during the pregnancy. So don’t avoid them because of the fear of infection rather wash them properly and then eat it or you can partially cook them before eating.

Unpasteurized milk: Unpasteurized milk can be contaminated by listeria which can cause neurological problems in babies. This can also lead to even miscarriage. Also avoid the products made from the unpasteurized milk. So pasteurize the milk first and then take it.

You may need more  calories during pregnancy to cope with the added needs of the growing baby.

At no other time in your life will the quality of food you eat have a greater impact.

Healthy eating, healthy baby, healthy you.

When you are pregnant, your body becomes very efficient at absorbing nutrients from the food you eat. All the goodness is passed onto your baby, but your own stores of nutrients can be depleted if you don't eat healthily.
