Ayurvedic fertility Plan (‘Garbhadhan Samskara’):The Science Of Conception
Everyone has to go through various sanskaras right from the birth till the death. These sanskaras bind the human life to follow a system that keeps him away from unproductive pleasures and temporary ecstasy. All sanskaras have been scientifically proven and are executed with specific Mantras. All the 16 sanskaras are conducted at different stages of life.In a man or a woman’s life, there are 16 ceremonies or rituals that would impact the life. Each and every Sanskaras has its own importance. If done with rituals and purity of mind it brings lot of positive changes in life.The Vedas prescribe several samskaras to be performed during ones lifetime.
As a painting is made by joining the different kinds of colours with a brush, similarly by following the ritual consecrations, this body also becomes able to achieve BRAHMA (Salvation). Human Body is like a painting which he skilled brush of an efficient painter finishes with colours in the form of consecrations. Without them, human is incomplete – just a breathing mass of bones and flesh.
The primary purpose of samskaras is to attain spirituality and help realize moksha or the ultimate union with the divine.The samskaras begin before the birth of the child. Garbhadhan, meaning conception, should be performed before conception.
In Indian culture there are sixteen major samskaras (rites of passage) to be performed by or for an individual beginning with conception and continuing up to the last rites performed after death. These samskaras are meant to cultivate positive qualities which help purify the soul and ultimately lead it to Realization, or union with God.The literal meaning of the word Samskara is to purify or to refine.
The Garbhadhan sanskar – It is no one of Sixteen Vedic Sanskars : To overcome any defects in the ovum and the foetus and to purify the womb. Samskara about conception - how a man and woman should get together, what time, when, to conceive a baby.One other samskaras are performed before childbirth. The pumsavana samskara is performed around the third month of pregnancy.Thus nine of the sixteen sacraments are performed by the time a child is three years old. The remaining seven samskaras relate to education, adulthood and the final funeral rites.
Our ancient believe that every aspect of life is sacred. That is why each significant stage, from conception to cremation, is celebrated as a reminder that life is a gift from God which should be duly respected and lived according to His wishes.This is the first installment describing the significance of the 16 Samskaras.
This sanskar is performed on the first sixteen nights after the first menses following marriage. This period is referred to as the rutu period (rutukal). Excluding the first four, eleventh and thirteenth nights, the remaining ten nights are considered suitable for this sanskar.
